Adding text to a GIF image in GIMP 2.8

Open GIMP 2.8
*still editing need to add images*

Note that this box should be opened

^^ it’s the layer box which shows u how many layers ur photo has.

If it is not opened go to
and then > Docktable dialoges > Layers

Open a gif image made in gif maker

Here u can see the change in the layers box as many layers are opened these r different frames of ur animated gif

Now check the size of the gif simple method is to go to image > scale image or canvas size
Now open paint.net and a new window with canvas size same as of the animated gif like here

Go to layer and click on Add new layer option

Chose text option   and then the size and font of text u want to add in the gif

Now on the page type the text u want in ur gif
and also place it where u want it in ur gif
Now select the whole canvas area only
Select it   and then copy it

Then go to new > in the box already the same dimensions as of the image u copied will be there click on ok and then paste it in the new window so it will look like this

The old one is left there on the  other window u can close it

Now save the other one which u just copied and made (transparent layer one) in the my picture folder

Go back to gimp now
Go to file > open as new layer > open the text image (as default named as 1f)

Now It will look like this

and the layer box like this
-
see there is a new layer added which is our text layer ok now the long and tough part starts
Scroll down and come to the background -

Yeh now click that (background pic) and then go to new > open as  layer > 1f (text layer image) > ok
So u get a new layer above the background which in ur layer box looks like this -

Ya repeat this with all other frames like click on frame two and then open the text layer and then frame 3 – 4 and so on (little time taking but remember don’t leave any frame
So that after each image there is a text layer and then again image (frame) then text layer so at end the layer box looks like

like this looks the layer box in the end of this process
Now u need to merge all text layers
Like this
right click the layer above the background > click merge down option
And so on with  text layer above all frames..so now the text layer won’t be visible but it will be there with the frame down to it
At the end something like this looks our layer box   though it looks same as when text was not added now text is added
Took look at how ur animation looks after adding text and is there any problem u can preview ur animation by clicking on Filters > Animation > Playback
Here is how ur animation with text looks

If u r satisfied with as it is go back to ur layer’s box
Just click on the boxes in middle of eye and pic like this it will look   do the same till the last frame (here the frame at the top as I started from bottom)

now click on the As animation option
the frame timing button is optional u can leave it at 100 also
And then click on export and phew ur image is saved !
